The Borough of Hellertown Public Works Department maintains all of the Borough roads, facilities and Borough property. Public Works plows Borough roads in winter and maintains the roads in spring, summer & fall by repairing, paving, clearing vegetation and roads and storm drains. Public Works plows and maintains approximately 20.68 miles of Borough owned roads and approximately 3.58 miles of PennDot owned roads (Main, Easton, Walnut, Cherry) We offer a street sweeping, leaf collection and tree trimming program.
The Department of Public Works is staffed by 4 full-time public works employees, 2 park employees and 3 sanitation employees under the direction of the Mr. Tom Henshaw and the supervision of the Crew Leader. 9 of the 10 employees are Class A Commercial Driver Licensed (CDL) operators and are subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
The Borough of Hellertown operates its own municipal trash service. The Borough is split up into 5 trash collection zones which are collected once a week.

The Borough of Hellertown has implemented rigorous road improvement program program since 2007.
Storm Water Management
The Clean Water Act is the federal legislation that governs stormwater management. Stormwater point discharges to waters of the U.S. are regulated suing National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits.

In time of snow, the Borough crews start plowing when the accumulation reaches two (2) inches. Please cooperate by removing your vehicles from the street in order for the plows to properly clean the streets.

The Borough of Hellertown Contracts Recycling Services out to JP Mascarro there are two zones which recycling being picked up every two weeks. In early 2013 JP Mascarro switched the single stream recycling which will drastically increase the amount recycle.
Lost Dog Information
The Borough of Hellertown operates a fully certified kennel for lost dogs. It can hold up to 2 dogs at any one time. If your dog is lost, please contact the Borough office at 610-838-7041.
Trap/Neuter/Return Program for Feral Colonies in Hellertown Borough
The Borough of Hellertown has put into action a Trap Neuter Return program to address the growing feral cat colonies in our community.
This program has been implemented by partnering with No Nonsense Neutering who operates a vet clinic in Allentown, PA.
